How .unii Files Work
When someone creates a .unii file using the UNII app:
- The original file (image, video, or PDF) is encrypted on the sender's device.
- A password is set that the recipient will need to unlock it.
- The sender chooses whether the recipient can save the decrypted content.
- The result is a single .unii file that can be shared through any platform.
The encryption happens entirely on-device. No server ever sees the original content or the password.
How to Open a .unii File
If you received a .unii file and want to open it:
Install the UNII app
Download from the Google Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS).
Tap the .unii file
Tap the file from wherever you received it. It opens in the UNII app automatically.
Enter the password
Type the password the sender shared with you to unlock the file.

To create your own .unii files:
- Open the UNII app and go to the Lock screen.
- Select an image, video, or PDF from your device.
- Set a password for the file.
- Choose if the recipient can save the content.
